Prof. Artur Mykitka – Ukrainian violinist, educator, professor, active music figure, and promoter of chamber music in Lviv. He is the head of the Department of Chamber Music at the Lviv National Academy of Music named after Mykola Lysenko.
Artur Mykitka began his music education in his hometown of Stryi, continuing it in Lviv. His work constantly attracts the attention of listeners and critics. He has been a member of the Lviv Chamber Orchestra since 1965, serving as one of its concertmasters, and since 1992, he has been its leader and concertmaster. Today, the Lviv Chamber Orchestra, known since 2005 as "Academia," is recognized far beyond the borders of Ukraine and has won numerous international competitions and festivals in Ukraine and Europe. The orchestra has released numerous cassettes and CDs and has recorded for Ukrainian Radio.
Professor Artur Mykitka and the "Academia" orchestra have collaborated with prominent musicians, including I. Oistrakh, S. Sondeckis, W. Gornostayeva, A. Slobodianik, O. Krysa, B. Kotorowicz, G. Kremer, J. Bashmet, W. Spivakov, I. Monigetti, D. Joffe, K. Dańczowska, A. Hiolski, M. Wayman, A. Brusilovsky, and the Moscow Chamber Choir of W. Minin. Prof. Mykitka has educated many musicians who have dedicated their lives to chamber music, become laureates of international and Ukrainian competitions, and play in the best orchestras in Ukraine and around the world, also performing as soloists.
As a professor and head of the Department of Chamber Music at the Lviv National Academy of Music, Prof. Mykitka has mentored numerous generations of musicians. His students have won international competitions and perform in renowned orchestras worldwide. In 2005, he initiated the "Christmas Musical Gifts" concert series, and in 2014, he launched the "Chamber Evenings at the Academy" series. He is also the organizer of two national Ukrainian competitions for chamber ensembles and quartets.
